Costa Rica land for sale, farms, homes...

I'd like to share this lovely farm with you...

Do you want to own five acres of rolling pasture land with a peak of an ocean view, or do you prefer a 25 acre farm with views of a waterfall and 360-degree mountain veiws? Both are available for sale, with a possible close date of April, 2007.

The 5 acre farm has two natural flat areas for building your home and guest home right off the public road. These sites have great access to the local electricity and water. The sale of the land comes with the pre-paid planing of 1,000 tropical hardwoods of your choice and planted where you prefer. This is a great farm for horses and reforestation, as my tree project of 3,300 trees is on the same mother farm. The whole farm is over 200 acres. You are only a 45 minute drive to the beach.

The many benefits to you include...

1. a very clear idea of exactly what you are buying, from a North American woman who speaks some Spanish and has visited Costa Rica numerous times.

2. a titled property in a very desirable location in booming Southern Costa Rica within a short drive to the beach. Utilities right next to the property and a good cell signal.

3. the opportunity to select your own favorite tropical trees to be planted on your land.

You may wish to consider your trees as just a way to beautify your land and create more wildlife habitat, or consider a portion of them as a small timber investment. 1000 hardwoods will be large enough to sell for timber in 6 to 25 years.

Last year I decided to plant about 3,000 baby hardwood trees. As I don't personally live on the farm, my initial and ongoing maintenance costs are higher than someone who lives there full time. If you don't live there full time, there are excellent people, such as Jenny, who will plant your 1,000 trees, who will maintain trees for you. You can estimate that the cost to plant 1,000 trees on 2.5 acres in this area will cost around $4,000. After that, if you do remote maintenance as I do, the cost will be around $2/tree/yr in the first few years to carefully maintain them to insure their health and value as timber products. Please contact me, or read further on my ""invest in trees" section of this site if you wish to learn more about growing or investing in trees.

4. a picturesque view of the ocean and forests from your front door, as well as a place for your horse. This farm does not have a "huge ocean view". Rather, it is a small one tucked between the hills. But you will definitely feel lifted by your view of the sea. You may keep a horse or two on your own 5 acres, but you will have to make sure your baby trees are separated from the pasture, as cows and horses find baby trees to be a nice snack. Feel free to talk with me about pasturing additional animals on my adjacent farm land. You may also be able to work out arrangements with the Tico owner of the mother farm to keep & maintain horses for you.

....personally I plan to use this property as a "snow bird" retirement getaway in five years or so, with the next four years focused on preserving 60 of the 75 acres for perpetual forest, developing a sustainable reforestation/futures center, and reforesting some of the other acreage.

5. frequent cool ocean breezes--a must in warm Costa Rica!

6. an opportunity to integrate into the local community, not just be in an enclave of expatriates.

7. a chance to grow your own trees and plant your own garden.

8. the opportunity to get to know Gilbert, his family, and his generous willingness to participate in the ecological development of this farm.

Explore this unique opportunity! It's all inside...

I've created many pages and added many photos to give you a clear idea of the kind of person who would be the perfect buyer of this property. There are six galleries of photos. Start here with photos that show you an overview of Costa Rica, with each gallery getting more specific about this farm. (see the "next gallery link at the bottom of each page). You will soon recognize if this all fits you, and your values or not. Enjoy and do feel free to contact me.

NEW: Want a finished almost-new house closer to town? Click here to see my neighbor's house near the town of Dominical that is for sale. I'd buy it myself if I had just a bit more money! Great opportunity to have a property you can move right into or rent right away!

Pura Vida...
