About Us...
"Us" includes myself,
my family, perhaps you, and the board of advisors. Rather
than have a standard bio here, I thought I'd share with
you a school project written by my son: Hero Project for 11th Grade, by
Skyler
Throughout
life, there are many people and events that inspire us and shape who we
are today. It was very hard for me to choose a "hero" for this project,
because there are many people I look up to, but no one I idolize. I
also dislike America's love for the meaningless happenings of various
celebrities. There is, however, one person that stands out in my mind
significantly, my mom.
My mother has persevered though many different
situations and has many admirable attributes. She is
an entrepreneur, she managed a painful divorce, and
is a minor philanthropist.
My mom, Kathleen, started her own business
that deals with real estate referrals. It is still very
successful. She wanted to work at home so she could
be with my brother and myself more often. There are
often major catastrophes she has to deal with, such
as people trying to undermine her job. She has taught
me how to work smart as well as hard, like earning passive
income. I hope to start my own business someday as well.
She helped start many other organizations as well such
as the Mountain Area Music Association and the National
Association of Exclusive Buyer Agents.
Many find it hard to believe that my parents
were divorced yet they get along just as well as if
they were ordinary friends. After they got divorced
my Dad decided to live near to my Mom's house so my
brother and I could transfer back and forth every week.
It was very hard for my mom to go through the divorce,
especially during the first few years. She is now writing
a book on how to have a "successful divorce" with children.
Another thing my mom did was help set
up other organizations such as Mountain Area Land Trust;
the Victims Assistance Program, and the first overnight
battered woman's shelter in Denver. She has her Masters
degree in social work and worked as such for four years
after college. She mainly worked in crisis centers helping
all sorts of people. She has continuously supported
protecting the environment. Just recently, she bought
land in Costa Rica, which eventually will be returned
into natural habitat for animals.
My mother has accomplished many things
that this paper helped me to realize. Through her struggles
through divorce, to her business, to her charitable
work, she has made quite an impact on my life and my
future.

My Family
My 19 year-old son Skyler is now graduated from high school and
recently moved out to live in his own apartment. That is a couragous
thing to do these days! He is a bright and handsome guy, has a warm
heart and loves animals. Of course right now his eye is on college and
the appeal of the big city life and hot rod cars.
My
16 year-old son Forrest is an emerging young man with a fabulous gift
for drawing and art. He doesn't like school much, but tries to appease
his parents with good grades. He's intuitive, funny, generous, and fun
to be around. He's been to Costa Rica with me and would love to come
more often. He loves the surfing and wildlife.

The Advisory Board
No one can take on a project like this without
an advisory board of qualified and similar minded people.

agreed to be on this board.
