This is the skyline of volcanoes you see flying over Nicaragua
There are many volcanoes in this area of the world. It is a place where tectonic plates meet. This makes it a very fertile place, but also one prone to earthquakes. It is possible to make structures that can withstand most earthquakes, and Costa Rica has a long tradition of building codes to help insure sound structures.

This is a fairly sturdy-looking bridge for Costa Rica
Bridges do get washed out and damaged due to the great amount of rains, and earthquakes. However, the local people seem to often take matters into their own hands and quickly repair them.

Steams and rivers are not owned, but shared.
We have 6 streams on our property and hope to grow live tilapia, a delicious fresh fish. This photo is of a steam on the farm up north where I own title to 1300 hardwood trees for reforestation and perpetual forest.

Teak is one of the many valuable hardwoods that are diminishing rapidly globally
However, they will grow 6 feet per year in a fertile tropical environment, making hardwood trees one of the best commodity investments you can think of.

Many folks get around their farms by horseback, which is just fine with me! On this farm, my friend Amy is looking over the trees she and her husband Fred have available for sale. There are many colorful roadside "sodas" or open air restaurants
Eating well is no problem in Costa Rica. The traditional rice dish pico de gallo is particularly delicious!
